Our vision for this institution is simple yet essential: to create a genuine “home, away from home environment” where expatriate children excel academically while nurturing an unbreakable bond with their heritage.
We recognize that fluency in one’s mother tongue and deep engagement with one’s native culture are far more than the matters of identity. This helps to form the bedrock of a child’s self-assurance, resilience, and sense of belonging in an increasingly interconnected world.
At Himalayan International Academy, we cultivate a safe and supportive environment where young minds develop as confident global citizens, equipped with international perspectives yet grounded in the values and traditions that define who they are.
For families living abroad, distance from home creates both extraordinary opportunities and profound challenges. Among these is ensuring our children remain anchored to their roots while flourishing in new environments.

Together, we bridge the distance between where we live and where we belong.
Himalayan International Academy (HIA) was established in 2021 with the aim of providing quality education to Japanese as well as immigrant children in Tokyo, Japan. The school believes in “holistic development” of the students, by honing children’s skills, and knowledge and shaping their identity/personality. The school encourages students to participate in curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities to develop a person who can understand and adapt to the diversity in the ever-changing world.
Our primary focus is to help children grow in a peaceful environment. To accomplish this, we emphasize on individualistic approach from the teachers and focus on students self-discipline and self-driven activities. As these students are the future leaders of our world, they must be well-mannered and learn to respect both one another and the environment. In this era of globalization, we are dedicated to nurturing future global citizens who are well-equipped for a global culture, while simultaneously understanding the host culture of Japan and balancing the needs of their home life. The well-rounded understanding students gain here will prepare them to be the successful leaders of the future.
We are aware that we live in an era of technology. Therefore, to make our students fully able to understand various technological tools, we adopt computer science into the curriculum from early grades. Our students are engaged with IT on a daily-basis from curiosity to problem-solving, research to presentations and coding to creation. This is, undoubtedly, going to help them make better choices and broaden their own prospects in the future.
At last but not the least, we have a surprise for you all. We are going to start our high school program from April 2026 starting grade 9. We are very excited to see you all in our new program as well.
I seek your continuous support to accomplish the above mentioned common goals.
Thank you !!
Warm regards.
