Empowering young minds in a child-centered community
Himalayan International Academy
Himalayan International Academy (HIA), established in 2021 and located in Edogawa, Tokyo, is an emerging international school founded by the Nepalese community that promotes the Nepalese curriculum while fostering cross-cultural understanding. Easily accessible via the JR Sobu and Keisei Lines, HIA serves a diverse student body and currently offers early childhood education through Grade 8, with plans to introduce Grade 9 in April 2026. The school emphasizes holistic student development by nurturing multilingual abilities, cognitive growth, mutual respect, and critical thinking. Through its commitment to diversity among students and faculty, HIA aims to create a global learning environment that prepares learners for success in an increasingly interconnected world.

Learn with Fun
We look the ways to make learning fun, accessible and meaningful. If learning isn’t fun, it won’t be effective.
Academic Levels
HIA is committed to provide a platform to meet the unique educational needs, interests, goals, and aspirations of each of its students. To accomplish this goal, currently HIA is deploying two academic levels, Kindergarten and Primary (Elementery) Level. We are planning to upgrade for Secondary and High School level in near future.

Kindergarten
Our kindergarten is fully based on Montessory practice introduced by Maria Montessory. Learning is based on the activities and tasks conducted by students. Role of teacher is more of a guide.

Primary Level
The Primary Level refers to the first years of compulsory schooling. It includes Kindergarten through Grade 5, typically for children aged 5 to 11 years. At this stage, students build foundational skills.

Junior High School
Grade 6 to Grade 8
HIA provides a nurturing, challenging environment supporting students aged 10 and above through upper primary and middle school transitions.

High School
Our Grade 9 to Grade 10 program builds on Lower Secondary foundations, offering deeper learning, increased rigor, and specialization to prepare students for advanced studies and future career pathways.
